Since 1792, Moore Square has been a place of gathering, reflection, entertainment, and recreation for the citizens of Raleigh. The four-acre downtown urban green space was originally conceived as one of five public green spaces for the City of Raleigh.

Overview

Moore Square

The square is bordered by East Martin Street to the south, South Person Street to the east, East Hargett Street to the north, and South Blount Street to the west. The Square is open to the public daily from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. with extended hours during special events.

Visitor Center

Location: 226 E. Martin St. Raleigh, NC 27601

The Moore Square Visitor Center features a history exhibit detailing the historic significance of the Square and surrounding district to the city of Raleigh and a gift shop featuring local Raleigh goods and unique Moore Square souvenirs. Stop in to learn Moore!

Visitor Center Hours:
Tuesday - Sunday, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Moore Square offers a variety of programs ranging from small programs, medium and large special events.

Moore Square Busker Series

The Moore Square Busker Series returns for the 2024 season and is looking for musical acts, art, magic, comedy, or any other performances that bring joy to our downtown park.

We're now accepting performance applications. Moore Square Busker Application
Applications are due by Wednesday, Feb. 21, but we will review applications on an ongoing basis.

    Meet Us at the Square

    Add to Calendar 2024-06-13 10:00:00 2024-06-13 14:00:00 Meet Us at the Square Join us at 'Meet Us at The Square', a compassionate community event hosted by Raleigh's Housing and Neighborhoods Department at Moore Square on June 13, 2024.  This event is dedicated to extending holistic support and resources to individuals facing homelessness or at-risk situations. By uniting non-profit organizations, service providers, volunteers, and caring community members, we aim to offer a comprehensive array of assistance and donations.  From bolstering health and wellness to empowering through employment and education, advocating for legal rights, meeting basic needs, and fostering strong community support networks, together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those in need.  Meet Us at The Square will be a convergence point for these sources of assistance with the purpose of increasing accessibility and engagement with all the services available in Raleigh for people experiencing homelessness or at risk.
