Art on City Plaza
Raleigh's City Plaza was unveiled in 2009 with public art an integral part of its vision. On display through August 2012 on three centerpiece pedestals are sculptures by Robert Coon (My Big Red), Deborah Marucci (Spiral Orb) and Adam Walls (Balancing Act). Each artwork varies in style, materials and size.
Art-On-The-Move
For ART-ON-THE-MOVE, Raleigh buses are wrapped in original artwork. Participating artists create an art gallery on wheels with imaginative designs such as a surreal forest landscape, flying clocks, giraffes and a 360-degree view of riders on a bus.
Raleigh Red Wolf Ramble
For this fun public art festival, over 100 red fibreglass wolves painted by North Carolina artists were located throughout the city to raise awareness for the endangered North Carolina red wolf. Each fiberglass form provided a canvas for artists to enhance with paint and three-dimensional add-ons.
Zoom Raleigh
Created by Patrick Fitzgerald with NC State University's Digital Media Lab, this interactive window installation at the Urban Design Center enabled passersby to manipulate a 3D digital model of Raleigh, selecting buildings of interest and interacting with historical photographs, texts and interviews specific to selected downtown sites.
