Completed
Opened in November 1972, the Carolina Pines Community Center currently totals 17,139 square feet and houses a gymnasium, kitchen, weight room, locker room(s), club room, and large meeting room. The building is set deep within the 32-acre Carolina Pines Park.
Funding for the renovation and expansion of the community center has been made available from both the Building Improvements Capital Improvement Program (CIP) and the voter approved 2007 Parks and Recreation Bond Referendum.
In August 2010, the preferred design was presented to the community which responded positively with comments and questions.
Improvements include replacement of the exterior window/metal wall assemblies, upgrade of the locker rooms to ADA compliance, renovation of the building's entrance, a new reception desk, replacement of the gym flooring with sports court, a new HVAC system for the entire building - including the gym, kitchen remodel, and a new large meeting room.
