Completed
The Jaycee Community Center opened in February 1961. The 26,865 square foot mid-century building houses a gymnasium, kitchen, weight room, game room, meeting room, restrooms, locker rooms, offices, and storage. The Community Center sits at the edge of a 25-acre park and is adjacent to the Parks and Recreation department's Recreation administration building.
Funding for the renovation and expansion of the existing Community Center was approved by voters in the 2007 Parks and Recreation Bond Referendum.
In March 2010, the architects completed a building assessment and presented five alternative design options to the community for comment.
In August 2010, the preferred design was presented to the community which responded positively with comments and questions.
Improvements include replacement of the exterior window/metal wall assemblies, upgrade of the locker rooms to ADA compliance, renovation of the building's entrance and reception desk, replacement of the gym flooring with sports court, conditioning of the gym, kitchen remodel, a new weight room, and a new extra-large meeting room.
The project's objectives are to:
Building Assessment: Complete March 2010
Design Development and Construction Documents: 2010 & 2011
Construction: August 2011 to June 2012
The construction budget is $1,405,136.
1st public meeting: March 31, 2010
2nd public meeting: August 2, 2010
