Isabella Cannon Park

Last Modified: December 05, 2011

The 3.5 acre Isabella Cannon Park was formerly known as Gardner Street Neighborhood Park. It was renamed to honor Raleigh's female mayor, Isabella Cannon, who died at the age of 97 on February 13, 2002. She served as mayor from 1977 to 1979 and was an advocate for all citizens and her University Park neighborhood.

Isabella Cannon Park is located off of Kilgore Avenue and Gardner Road. The park is managed by Jaycee Community Center and was recently renovated in 2011. Park amenities include a picnic shelter, playground, outdoor basketball court and the first climbing boulder in the Raleigh Parks System.

The picnic shelter has four tables and is close to the playground and outdoor basketball court. To reserve the picnic shelter, contact Jaycee Community Center at (919) 831-6833.
