Historical Resources and Museum Program
Mordecai Historic Park is located in the heart of downtown Raleigh and is home to some of North Carolina's most extraordinary treasures, including the Mordecai House and the Birthplace of Andrew Johnson - 17th president of the United States. Mordecai Historic Park offers a unique glimpse into early Raleigh life. Trolley tours depart from Mordecai on Saturdays in March through December.

Site Features & Hours
Park grounds open dawn to dusk, seven (7) days a week
Tour Hours (Park Buildings only accessible by tour)
- Tours are offered at the top of the hour,
with the last tour beginning at 3pm. - Monday - No tours
- Tuesday to Saturday - 9am to 4pm
- Sunday- 1-4pm
Admission
- Hour Tour: $5 adults, $3 seniors, $3 youth
- Half Hour Tour: $3 adults, $2 seniors, $2 youth
- Children 6 and under are free

Tour Exceptions
Public Tours are not offered when school tours are on site. School tours are not held on Saturdays. Please call 919-857-4364 Tuesday through Friday to check public tour availability.

St. Mark's Chapel
Located in the heart of downtown Raleigh, Mordecai's St. Mark's Chapel provides a warm, intimate setting for any small wedding or gathering.
Fees:
- Resident Fee $100 per hour (2 hour minimum)
- Non Resident Fee $150 per hour (2 hour minimum)
- $75 damage deposit
- $15 application fee (non refundable)
Mordecai Historic Park Grounds
Additionally, the grounds at Mordecai make a unique and memorable backdrop for your special day. Tents, dancing, amplified music, and alcohol are allowed on the grounds.
Fees:
- Resident Fee $100 per hour (2 hour minimum)
- Non-Resident Fee $150 per hour (2 hour minimum)
- $75 damage deposit (refundable)
- $50 alcohol permit fee (non refundable)
- $15 application fee (non refundable)

Events & Exhibits
July 4th 11am-3pm|Celebration at the State Capitol: Join Mordecai Historic Park at the State Capitol for the Independence Day Celebration. In addition to other family friendly events, Mordecai staff will be on site at the Capitol helping folks create free pressed flower book marks. The Raleigh Trolley will also be conducting tours departing from the Capitol at 11, 12, 1 and 2pm. Trolley rides will be $3 and children 6 and under ride free.
August 16th 10am-3pm| Free Friday: Take a free tour of the Mordecai House and other historic outbuildings. Free tours are only offered twice a year so don't miss out. Tours will begin on the hour and 1/2 hour. First come first serve. The first tour will begin at 10am, the last tour will begin at 3pm. Call 919-857-4364 for more information.
Volunteering
Volunteers are always needed at Mordecai Historic Park and the program is open to everyone. No matter what your talents or interest, you can support Mordecai through volunteerism. Artifacts
Home to five generations of the same family the Mordecai House features many of the Mordecai Family's original furnishings, portraits, books, and other artifacts.
The Andrew Johnson Birthplace features an exhibit on the 17th President with many original artifacts from the Mordecai Collection as well as on loan from the Andrew Johnson National Historic Site.
The other buildings on site at Mordecai Historic Park are furnished with period appropriate artifacts.
