Understanding the Valuation of Green Home Features

Green Building Training Program - Green Appraisers Class

Offered through North Carolina State University, this course will provide essential residential green building knowledge, from energy efficiency construction concepts to green home maintanence that appraisers need to navigate the complex and growing North Carolina green home market.

As a result of this instruction, students will be able to:

  • Understand green home concepts as they apply to new and existing homes, including energy efficiency construction concepts and specific issues that green homes need to address: land, water, energy, air, and resource use.
  • Recognize green and energy efficiency programs that are active both nationally and in North Carolina.
  • Incorporate the benefits of a third party-verified green home into an appraisal.
  • Increase expertise in assigning appropriate values to green home features when performing an appraisal.
