Temporary Street Closings

The following street closings due to schedule road races, parades, construction or other events. These activities will affect certain traffic patterns across Raleigh over the next several months.

Hargett Street closure

Hargett Street will be closed between West Street and Harrington Street beginning January 30.

Chamberlain Street

Chamberlain Street will be closed in two phases from Oct. 9 through Jan. 9 as part of a transmission main replacement project. The first phase will be from Everett Avenue to Stafford Avenue. The second phase will be from Stafford Avenue to Clark Avenue. As soon as the contractor finishes with the first phase, they will immediately begin on the second. The contractor will not have both sections closed at the same time.


November 23 Traffic will be affected by two road races near Wakefield from 7:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. Maps of the course are available online.

November 23 Traffic will be affected near Ridgewood Shopping Center from 8 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. for a road race. A map of the course is online.


December 2 Traffic will be impacted on Hillsborough Street from 9 a.m. until noon. Hillsborough Street will be closed between Mayo Street and St. Mary's Street. Additionally, the street will be closed from 10 a.m. until 11:45 for a road race. Runners will begin at Hillsborough Street and Mayo Street, proceed west to Shepherd Street, make a u-turn and return along the same route.

December 2 Traffic will be affected along Fayetteville Street from 6 a.m. until midnight. Fayetteville Street will be closed between Martin Street and Lenoir Street. Davie Street will be closed between S. Salisbury Street and S. Wilmington Street. Additionally, City Plaza will be closed.
