How To Request an After-Hours Inspection

After-hours inspections are for any inspection needed outside of normal business hours (7:30 a.m - 4:30 p.m.). These inspection requests should be discussed with your inspector prior to requesting them formally. All work must be complete and ready for inspection before scheduling. These inspections are only for non-emergencies, and a contractor representative must be on site with job plans and ready access to all areas needing inspection. Scheduling is based on the availability of Building Safety division staff. A two-day notice is generally required for after-hours inspections. This time frame is to verify staff availability and allow all fees to be processed and paid.

How To Request an After-Hours Inspection

  1. Complete the After-hours inspection form, and submit via email to field.services@raleighnc.gov.
  2. Within two business days, we will reach out to you to confirm the date and time of your inspection. We will also inform you of any associated fees.
  3. Pay your fees prior to the inspection. Fees can be paid over the phone or in-person.

There is a 3-hour minimum and the fees are: $75/hour for residential projects. $125/hour for commercial projects. Fees are refundable for inspections cancelled by 3 p.m.
