Christine Darges is the Development Services Office Manager of the Planning and Development Department. Development Services oversees and coordinates the processing and review of proposed development plans for the City of Raleigh, from project conception to permit issuance. As manager of the Development Management Team (DMT), Christine serves as the development industry contact person for any Code Interpretation request.
Christine has been employed with the City of Raleigh since 1987, where she originally worked with the establishment of the newly adopted landscape ordinance. Christine holds a Bachelor's of Science degree in Horticultural Sciences and Landscape Design from North Carolina State University, graduating in 1983. Prior to her employment at the City of Raleigh, the American Horticultural Society selected her for the first Heinz Foundation Internship. She worked at the Society's 25 acre headquarters estate, River Farm, located near Mount Vernon, Virginia for a period of 9 months. The internship was funded by the H.J. Heinz Company Foundation. She then went on to open a residential landscape design business in Vienna Virginia before relocating permanently to Raleigh, NC in 1987.
