City of Raleigh Parks, Recreation and Cultural

Resources Depar tment invited guests to a

celebration on on Thursday, June 4 at Anderson

Point Park to celebrate the completion of the

Neuse River Greenway Trail and its connections.

Activities included local food trucks, outdoor

music presented by PineCone from Lorraine

Jordan and Carolina Road, bike ride and a fun run.

The completion of the Neuse River Trail added 28

miles of trail to the Capital Area Greenway System

and Connections. The trail system extends from

Falls Lake Dam to the Wake/Johnston County line.

The Neuse River Corridor is:

• The central spine of the Capital Area Greenway

• Longest greenway trail in Nor th Carolina

• The longest paved trail between nor thern

Virginia and western Georgia

• A segment of the Mountains to Sea Trail –

which is a long distance trail that runs

across NC from Great Smoky Mountains

to the Outer Banks

• Par t of the East Coast Greenway – which

extends from Maine to Florida
