The City of Raleigh's Office of Sustainability funded its Green Building Training Series through the U.S. Department of Energy's Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, commonly referred to as the stimulus package.

The Green Building Training Series Program empowered small businesses and individuals with the knowledge and skills to market themselves in the growing green economy. The program also ensured Raleigh has a skilled workforce trained in cutting-edge technologies, enabling the City and its residents to build more environmentally friendly, energy efficient, and smarter. Course topics included Solar Photovoltaic, Solar Thermal, Building Performance Institute Building Analyst Auditor/Home Energy Rater System, BPI Envelope, Energy Star 3.0, Green Home Valuation, Residential Real Estate Energy Awareness, Green Plumbing, Green Cleaning, and Sustainable Landscaping.

Classes were offered in partnership with Wake Technical Community College and the North Carolina Solar Center. Wake Tech continues to offer many of these courses through its Green Jobs training program.

Many thanks to all the participants, instructors and partners who made the Green Building Training program such a success!
