Bicycle & Pedestrian Advisory Commission (BPAC)

A special meeting of the BPAC was held on March 27 at the Raleigh Municipal Building - Council Chamber at 6 p.m. The BPAC reviewed public comments received from the Bicycle Pavement Marking Design Projects that may have parking impacts.

Purpose

The Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Commission is an all-volunteer advisory body, appointed by the City Council to provide guidance and leadership on all matters concerning bicycle and pedestrian activities and accommodation in Raleigh. BPAC members are responsible for making recommendations on the implementation of relevant programs, policies, regulations, and funding priorities regarding walking and cycling in the City of Raleigh.

Committees

Bicycle Planning Committee

Established to promote bicycle oriented development. The committee will be playing an active role in the development of the City's new Development Code to ensure that multi-modal transportation elements are addressed.

Members: Charlotte Mitchell- Chair, Sig Hutchinson, Alan Wiggs

Meeting Schedule: The second Tuesday of every month unless otherwise specified

Next Meeting: Tuesday, April 8 at 6:00 p.m., 222 W. Hargett St. at the Raleigh Municipal Building - Room 303

Community Outreach Committee

Established to promote public outreach for bicycle and pedestrian oriented involvement for recreational and educational opportunities.

Members: Mike Dayton- Chair, Corey Bates, Dr. Linda Butler

Meeting Schedule: The second Thursday of every month unless otherwise specified

Next Meeting: The Community Outreach Committee meeting will be a part of the #BikeRaleigh Forum.

Pedestrian Planning Committee

Established to promote pedestrian oriented development, including in mixed-use infill and retail opportunities. The committee will be playing an active role in the development of the City's new Development Code to ensure that multi-modal transportation elements are addressed.

Members: Aaron Peeler - Chair, Sig Hutchinson, Amy Simes

Meeting Schedule: The first Thursday of every month unless otherwise specified

Next Meeting: Thursday, April 3 at 1:00 p.m., 1 Exchange Plaza, Raleigh, NC 27602 - Conference Room 707

Joint Bicycle & Pedestrian Planning Committee

The Joint Bicycle & Pedestrian Planning Committee will meet on a monthly basis as need depending on agenda items that coincide.
