Rock N Roll Marathon Detours
Lake Johnson Park at 4601 Avent Ferry Road is pleased to welcome back the 2017 Raleigh Rock 'n' Roll Marathon to its popular greenway trail on Sunday April 2, 2017. Marathoners will complete their 17th mile in the park along the scenic wooded greenway trail adjacent to beautiful Lake Johnson.
The primary parking lot at the Lake Johnson Waterfront Program Center will be closed that Sunday April 2nd from dawn to approximately 5 pm. Portions of Avent Ferry Road will also be closed to vehicular traffic to accommodate the runners. The other parking lots in the park will be open, as will the greenway trail system. Please note that the greenway trails and parking areas may be crowded during event.
Pullen Aquatic Center
Pullen Aquatic Center will be closing for maintenance work March 25-April 7. Please visit our other aquatic centers while Pullen Aquatic Center is closed.
Pullen Park Amusements - Pedal Boats
The Pedal Boats at Pullen Park Amusements will open for the season on March 17th.
The Pedal Boats hours for March will be: Friday, Saturday, & Sunday from 12pm-6pm. The last boat will go out at 5:30pm.
Campbell Lodge Renovation
The Campbell Lodge at Durant Nature Preserve is under renovation. During the renovation the South entrance located at 3237 Spottswood St will be open to the public. The projected completion date for the project is March 31.
Sertoma Arts Center Renovations
Sertoma Arts Center will be closed for major HVAC renovations beginning December 31, 2016. The center is scheduled to reopen in April 2017.
Jaycee Park Improvements
Jaycee Park Re-Paving Project
Phase one work involving the demolition and re-paving of the parking lot in front of the Frank Evans building is now complete. Phase two work will begin Monday, March 20. Phase two will involve the demolition and re-paving of the service road between Frank Evans Administration Office and the Jaycee Softball Field #1. All offices will remain open. City of Raleigh Recycling Station will be located temporarily near Jaycee Field #3 with access from Tower St. We expect the project to be completed and open for use by mid May 2017-weather pending.
Greenway Repairs and Closures
As greenways trails and structures age, maintenance and repairs are necessary. Due to the nature of this work, the trails will occasionally need to be closed to complete this work in an safe and efficient manner.
