Payments can be made by MasterCard, Visa, Check, Bank Draft, Money Order or Cash

The City of Raleigh offers convenient methods for making your utility payment.

Pay Online (Visa or MasterCard)

We accept MasterCard and Visa payments through the Utility Billing online system. 

If you are already registered, simply log in to make your payment.  Or register now to make your online payment in a few quick steps.

Your account will be updated within moments to show your payment information and new balance.

Pay by Phone (Visa or MasterCard)

Call 919.890.3245 to make a Visa or MasterCard payment using the automated voice response system. Please have your credit card and utility account number available.

The automated system is available 7 days a week, 24 hours a day in English and Spanish.

Your account will be updated to show the payment information and your new balance within moments.

AutoPay (Recurring Bank Draft)

Our AutoPay option is reliable, convenient, and worry-free. Each month on the due date shown on your bill, your utility payment will be automatically drafted from the checking or savings account of your choice.

To get started, simply complete and submit an online Bank Draft Authorization form. AutoPay will take effect on your first billing after submitting the authorization form.

A PDF versionAdobe Acrobat PDF Document of the Bank Draft Authorization form is also available for customers who prefer to print the form, complete it manually, and mail to to the Utility Billing office.

It is the customer's responsibility to ensure all information provided on the Bank Draft Authorization form is accurate (especially the Routing/Transit Number and the Bank Account Number), and there are sufficient funds in the bank account. Otherwise, your utility bill cannot be paid using this method.

To pay by cash, or to make a payment in person, visit one of the City's Official Utility Payment Locations.

IMPORTANT: Locations not shown on the list are not official payment locations for the City of Raleigh. Payments made at non-official locations may take several days to be applied to your utility account.

About Returned Payments

When a payment is returned, it will be reversed off of the customer's account and a returned payment feeAdobe Acrobat PDF Document will be included in the next bill. The credit rating with Utility Billing will be negatively affected for each occurence.

If multiple check payments have been returned on a City of Raleigh utility account, the customer may be required to make future payments by a secured method such as credit card, certified check, money order or cash.

If multiple automated bank draft payments have been returned on a City of Raleigh utility account, the customer may be removed from the AutoPay option and required to make future payments by a secured method such as credit card, certified check, money order or cash.

If a returned payment is applied on an account, and that account is then delinquent, services may be interrupted immediately.

When good payment/credit history has been re-established with the City of Raleigh's Utility Billing Division for 12 months, the account may be reviewed and the payment restrictions may be removed.
