The Adventure Program offers classes, clinics, trips and camps throughout the city, the triangle area and state. See what we can do for you. You can register for any adventure program online using RecLink, in person at any staffed facility, or by calling the Adventure office at 919-996-6855.

Neuse River Canoe Trip

Spend a day canoeing the Neuse River with guidance from the Adventure Program staff. We will meet you at the take-out and shuttle you to the put-in for our trip.

Mountain Bike Weekend

We're heading to the mountains for 2 nights of camping and a couple days of riding some of the best trails North Carolina has to offer. Adventure Program staff will provide instruction, camping equipment, and breakfast each morning at camp before hitting the trails for the day. Bring your own bike.

Time: 5 p.m. Friday – Sunday afternoon

Umstead Family Campout

Bring the whole family out to Willaim B. Umstead State Park for a family friendly introduction to family camping. Adventure Program staff will provide tents, dinner, guided activities for multiple ages, lots of campfire fun, and breakfast in the morning before we break down camp.

Dates: Nov 4-5
Time: 1 p.m. Saturday – 10 a.m Sunday

Pool Sessions

Pool Sessions are open practice times for all levels of paddlers, whether you're working on play boating, perfecting your roll or just wanting to try out the sport.

Let the Adventure Program design you next excursion! The Adventure Program customizes programs, clinics and trips in a variety of disciplines including Paddling, Rock Climbing, Cycling, Wilderness Survival Skills, Teambuilding, and more. In 1984, the Adventure Program was born out of the city's Nature Program. Over the years the goal has always been to provide instructional opportunities in a wide range of outdoor adventure activities as well as:

  • Provide enjoyable adventure experiences that embrace experiential learning.
  • Create an atmosphere where group experiences foster a sense of team.
  • Provide instructional foundations in a wide range of adventure activities.
  • Focus on safety issues and manage risks in the most proactive manner.
  • Provide an opportunity for environmental appreciation and stewardship.
