Programs for Individuals who are Blind or Visually Impaired
Specialized Recreation and Inclusion Services
The Visually Impaired Program offers a variety of monthly recreational opportunities, specifically designed for individuals who are blind or have vision impairments. Programs offered may include sporting events, community outings, trips, bowling, darts, beep ball, instructional classes, etc. Participants meet twice per year to provide program feedback and provide suggestions for upcoming programs.
For some programs, transportation is provided for an additional fee. Depending upon the program type and location, transportation may be provided from door-to-door for pick up and drop off within Raleigh City Limits or it may be provided to and/or from a centralized meeting location.
Participants must register and pay in advance. A participation form is required annually for all participants and should be completed and returned to our office prior to participating.
The VIP Newsletter is published on a bi-monthly basis and contains information on program policies, registration and details regarding upcoming program opportunities for the following two months. The newsletter is available in large print, Braille, and audio formats. Download the current newsletter.
