Ken Bowers, AICP, joined the City of Raleigh in 2006 as Deputy Planning Director. His responsibilities with the City include management and oversight of the Long Range Planning and Zoning programs, as well as supporting the Planning Commission. He served as Project Director for the 2030 Comprehensive Plan and the recently completed Capital Boulevard Corridor Study. Prior to returning to Raleigh, he was a consultant and principal with the New York City-based firm Phillips Preiss Shapiro Associates, where he authored plans, market studies, and revitalization strategies for clients in the New York metropolitan region and beyond.
Ken holds a Bachelor's of Science in Physics from North Carolina State University and a Master's of Regional Planning from UNC-Chapel Hill. In addition to being certified by the American Institute of Certified Planners, he is a licensed Professional Planner in the State of New Jersey.
