Homicide Open Investigations

On July 28, 2009, employees coming to work discovered the deceased victim lying outside the church facilities at 204 Hillsborough Street. The investigation determined she was the victim of a homicide. Information obtained during the investigation showed that Ms. Watkins was homeless and occasionally slept on or near the property.

On February 9, 2009, victim was shot while walking in the 2400 block of Poole Road. Three suspects were captured on surveillance video fleeing the scene.

On December 21, 2008, as the victim was shot and killed as he arrived home from work. Two unidentified black males were seen fleeing the scene.

On November 21, 2008, at approximately 8 p.m., victim was shot and killed on the 300 block of Tarboro Road.

On July 12, 2008, at approximately 12:43 a.m., the victim was shot to death as he parked his vehicle in the parking lot of his apartment complex. Brunner was known to his friends as "Whitebread."

On January 13, 2008, at approximately 1:18 a.m., the victim was shot and killed on the sidewalk in front of 119 Idlewild Avenue. Mr. Christmas was known to his friends as "Smiley." Witnesses stated that at least two suspects were involved.

During the early morning hours of December 12, 2007, officers responded to a reported home-invasion robbery at 1229 Somerset Road. Upon arrival, they discovered the victim deceased inside his bedroom as a result of gunshot wounds. It was reported that multiple armed suspects had entered the residence.

On June 14, 2007, at around 5:00 a.m., officers responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle that was abandoned in the front parking lot of a convenience store on Lake Wheeler Road. Officers discovered the driver of the vehicle murdered behind the business. At the time of her death, Nielsen was making deliveries for a national newspaper. She was eight months pregnant.

On June 10, 2006, the victim was reported missing to the Wake County Sheriff's Department. He was last seen alive on or about June 9, 2006. On June 19, 2006, a citizen reported that they discovered a body in the woods behind 500 Hanska Way. Officers responded and located the crime scene. The body was identified as the missing person, Alfonso Hildago.

On Sunday, August 24, 2003 around 8:00 pm, Carlos Morrell was shot and killed as he arrived at his residence of 3139 Calvary Drive. Witnesses observed at least two male suspects fleeing the area in a red Jeep Grand Cherokee.

On July 22, 2002 at 2:00 a.m., the victim was shot in front of his residence while sitting in his vehicle. The victim was parked in the roadway talking to a friend who was in her car. A silver SUV arrived and Williams was attempting to move his vehicle from the travel lane when numerous gunshots were discharged from the passenger side of the SUV, killing the victim.

On October 24, 2001, the victim, an elderly female living alone, was found murdered inside her residence. The medical examination revealed that she died as a result of blunt force trauma.

On October 17, 1998, the victim was fatally shot in the front yard of 205 N. State Street. Witnesses at the scene indicated that a subject known only as "New York" may be the shooter.

On January 12, 1998, around 2:00 a.m, the victim's body was found in his apartment located at 1029-E Hunting Ridge Road. He had been shot numerous times.

On August 23, 1994, the victim's body was discovered between two businesses in the 1200 block of Wicker Drive. Ms. Vinson worked for an escort service and was reportedly last seen alive a week earlier on August 16, 1994 when she left her apartment at around 2:00 a.m. to meet a client. Her vehicle was discovered parked at the entrance of 2501 Capital Boulevard at approximately 5:30 a.m.
