Recycling History and Achievements

The Administrative Division provides coordination and direction for the Solid Waste Services Department. Administration also oversees departmental Geographic Information System (GIS) planning which provides regular route analysis employing an automated vehicle locator (AVL) system and RouteSmart routing software to optimize collection routes for garbage, recycling and yard waste services. Efficient routes save the City costs in equipment, personnel, operations, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and provide improved customer service.
