City to Observe Christmas Holiday Beginning Dec. 23


The City of Raleigh will observe the Christmas Day holiday on three days this year: Friday, Dec. 23; Monday, Dec. 26; and Tuesday, Dec. 27. Most administrative offices will be closed all three days. Emergency police, fire and rescue services may be reached by calling 9-1-1.

Despite the holiday, there will be no change in the curbside collection schedule for garbage, recycling and yard waste. Regularly scheduled routes on Dec. 23 and Dec. 27 will be collected as normal. There will be no collections on Christmas Day and Dec. 26. The Yard Waste Center will be closed on Christmas Day. It will operate on a regular schedule the rest of the week.

GoRaleigh buses will run on Dec. 24, with final departures from Moore Square occurring at 7 p.m. Express routes operated by GoRaleigh and all GoTriangle bus service are not operating on Christmas Eve Day. No buses are running on Christmas Day. Regular GoRaleigh and GoTriangle service resumes Dec. 26.

Information about the New Years Holiday:
Raleigh to Observe New Year’s Day Holiday on Jan. 2

The City of Raleigh will observe the New Year’s Day holiday on Monday, Jan. 2. New Year’s Day falls on a Sunday. Most administrative offices will be closed on Jan. 2. Emergency police, fire and rescue services may be reached by calling 9-1-1.

There will be no change in the curbside collection schedule for trash, yard waste and recycling due to the holiday. The City’s Yard Waste Center will be closed on Dec. 31 and on New Year’s Day but operate a normal schedule on Jan. 2 and the remainder of that week.

GoRaleigh buses will operate on a Sunday schedule on New Year’s Day. To get schedule information, contact 919-485-7433. GoTriangle buses and express bus routes operated by GoRaleigh are not running on Jan. 1. Regular bus service resumes on Jan. 2.
