The City of Raleigh Fire Department will join N.C. Insurance Commissioner and State Fire Marshal Mike Causey in demonstrating the dangers associated with frying turkeys this holiday season.

The demonstration will be held at noon on Thursday, Nov. 16, at the Fire Department’s Keeter Training Center at 105 Keeter Center Drive. A half-frozen turkey will be lowered into oil heated to 350 degrees to show the risks and dangers of frying turkey. The media is invited to attend the demonstration.

“Thanksgiving is one of the best meals of the year but the dangers of turkey frying can put you and your family at risk,” Mr. Causey said. “Oil-frying fires can happen quickly and they are hard to extinguish.”

Chief State Fire Marshal Brian Taylor and other representatives of the Office of the State Fire Marshal will also be at the demonstration.
