Three New Appointees Made to City Boards

During its meeting on January 17, several new appointees were named to City of Raleigh commissions.

Linda Pearsall was appointed to the Environmental Awards Program 2012 Jury as a member of the professional scientific community. Jim Sherron IV, Erin Sterling Lewis, Ralph Thompson, Shoshanna Serxner, Mary Brice, and Donna Stankus were also appointed to the jury.

Glenn French was appointed to the Downtown Housing Improvement Corporation and Kevin Yates was appointed to the Stormwater Management Advisory Commission. Julie Sherk was reappointed to the Appearance Commission and JoAnn Burkholder was reappointed to the Stormwater Management Advisory Commission.

The Council also appointed Michelle Corbin, Cheryl Fraser, Patrice Gist, Jennifer Bradshaw Martin, Jeff Murison, Wayne Maiorano, Paul Reimel, Philip Bernard, Leslie Bryant and Elizabeth Byrd to the Special Events Signage Task Force.

Raleigh residents have the opportunity to volunteer their services to the City to serve without pay on various boards, commissions and committees. Some of these groups are established in the City Charter. Others are created by the Mayor or City Council to perform special, limited functions.

Where not specified by law, it is the City's policy to appoint citizens to serve two-year terms with a maximum of six consecutive years of service on any specific board or commission. Citizens may serve on no more than two commissions, boards or committees concurrently.
