In it's Feb. 7 meeting, the City Council authorized City staff to enter into a purchase agreement for nearly half an acre of land and a 4,700 square-foot building at 1101 Wake Forest Road for $600,000 to be used as the Mordecai Interpretive Center. The property is adjacent to Mordecai Park.
The visitor center will be used for interpretive displays, offices and educational programs. The building design is intended to be in keeping with the historic context and architectural characters in the surrounding area.
