Play Smart - A Safety and Fitness Program for Preschool Children

News posted Jan. 27, 2012 - 9:15 am

Play Smart is the ideal program to teach your preschooler primary safety skills in a fun environment. Through the use of a "kid-sized" city and various games and activities we teach children some of the basic safety principles.

Play Smart is designed specifically for children ages 3-5 years old. The program is intended for individuals and groups. Parent/guardians and teachers are required to stay during the program to enhance the learning experience and provide appropriate supervision. Each session has 40 spaces.

The preschoolers rotate through different stations to learn a variety of safety skills. During the stations they will learn about pedestrian safety and street signs with a kid sized city with pedal cars, run the nutrition relay and practice spatial skills in our obstacle course, try on a life vest and learn how to be safe out in the sun or in the water, and practice fire safety by learning how to stop, drop and roll and to how to safely exit you home in case of a fire.

The program is $6 per participant. Individuals may register at local City of Raleigh Community Centers.
