Policy Audit

Comprehensive Plan Update - www.planningraleigh2030.com

A Comprehensive Plan should contain in one place all the adopted policies influencing the physical development of the City. In order to ensure that the new Plan reflects the years of past planning and policy creation represented by the current Plan, a Policy Audit has been developed to serve as a tool for evaluating the continued relevance of adopted policies. The audit was created by extracting every individual policy and action statement from the current Plan and other relevant documents and organizing them into a spreadsheet. Statements are evaluated based on (1) whether they have been implemented, or not; (2) whether they remain current; and (3) whether the provide meaningful and constructive policy guidance.

The policy audit is now available for download as a set of three PDF files, sorted by topic area. The files include a table of contents; policies which are citywide is scope; and policies which apply to specific areas. Note that some citywide policies came from area plans, and vice versa.
