Each year, as part of the City's budget approval, the City Council sets a tax rate which is used to establish property taxes for the next fiscal year. The total value of all the taxable property is known as the City's tax base.
Property taxes for the City of Raleigh are billed for and collected by the Wake County Revenue Department. For more information on property tax contact the Wake County Revenue Department at 919-856-5400. Their consolidated bill is normally mailed in July or early August and includes the county taxes, the city taxes, and a vehicle decal fee.
