Open a Utility Services Account

Utility Service Worksheet must be completed to open a new utility account.  New water/sewer accounts are required to pay a $50.00 initiation fee, which applies to our entire customer base including Garner, Knightdale, Rolesville, Wake Forest, Wendell, and Zebulon.  This connection fee will be added to each customer's first utility bill.  A credit letter will NOT be accepted in lieu of this fee! This is not a deposit, it is a fee.  An additional deposit may be required for accounts previously turned off due to non-payment.

  • Connection is available the same day, but 2 - 3 days advance notice is preferred.
  • There is no minimum bill. All water/sewer charges are based on actual consumption.

Charges for filling up a swimming pool depend on which method you use.  One method is to use your residential water connection.  You will be charged for water and sewer services since the water would go through your meter.  No adjustments will be made for the sewer portion of these charges.  The second method is to rent a water hydrant.  For requirements and information regarding renting a hydrant, please call Meter Operations at 919-250-2742.

Any balance not paid in full by the due date printed on your utility bill is considered past due.  A late fee of $5.00 will be charged to each past due account.  The charge will appear on the customer’s next bill following the late occurrence.

Delinquent customers run the risk of having their water services disconnected at the customer's expense. The City charges the following fees when disconnection of service occurs:

  • Trip charge - $20.00
  • Meter locked/removed - $42.00
  • After hours charge - $10.00

City of Raleigh Code and North Carolina State law prohibit obstructing and tampering  with water meters.  This includes jumpers, individual turn on’s, etc.
