Payroll Division
The Payroll Division is primarily responsible for the following:
- ensuring that all City employees receive accurate and timely paychecks net of the appropriate payroll deductions,
- accounting for and managing 37 different payroll earning codes and over 40 different payroll deductions,
- reconciling and adjusting all payroll withholding accounts and rendering the proper payment of all deductions,
- fringe benefit financial budgeting and management, and
- providing all aspects of payroll service to City of Raleigh employees.
The City of Raleigh has a bi-weekly payroll cycle with approximately 3,100 permanent full-time employees. In addition, approximately 1000 to 2000 temporary employees are paid during summer peak periods.
