Permits

  • Special Inspections
  • Commercial Plans submittals after September 1, 2007 will be required to have the new Code Summary document including the Special Inspections Chapter 17 data
  • New information is required for commercial plans.  A Building Code Change effective in March required Owners and Designers to provide a list of items that need Special Inspections.  The Inspections Department has modified the Code Summary "Appendix B" to include a format to record this information.  A new Code Summary document is now available.  Please start using this on your next project

The Permits Division consists of 44 personnel. The primary function of the Permits Division is to review proposed project plans for building and zoning Code compliance and issue the appropriate permits. The Permits Division processed more than 63,000 permits last year or 253 per day. These projects range from a 14 story office building to a permit to build a back yard deck. The value of this construction is slightly greater than $1.3 billon dollars per year.
