Raleigh, the capital city of North Carolina, is a thriving city of 360,000 citizens that is consistently ranked at the top of national “Best Places” lists. The Raleigh Police Department has 728 sworn positions, 123 civilian positions, and has an annual operating budget of $76.7 million. The department is internationally accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies and is doing its part to make Raleigh an even better place to be.
Our employees are committed to being positive aspects of the community. They are professionals working 24 hours a day to protect lives and property within the City. We remain dedicated to improving the quality of life throughout all of the City’s neighborhoods. The department utilizes a community oriented problem-solving philosophy. Our personnel partner with citizens, businesses, and institutions to identify and eliminate the root causes of crime and disorder.
