Volunteer Programs
Volunteer Program recruits and refers volunteers to City departments and City funded human service agencies. City departments and City funded human service agencies select the volunteers from the applicants referred to them by the Community Services Department. Hope Builders Program is a partnership between the City of Raleigh and the Raleigh Baptist Association. Local adult and youth volunteers are provided by the Raleigh Baptist Association to make free repairs to the homes of qualified low-moderate income homeowners who live in redevelopment, conservation, and special census tract areas. These services are offered by the Raleigh Baptist Association throughout the year. The City of Raleigh provides funding for construction materials. Foster Grandparent Program (FGP) is to provide meaningful part-time volunteer opportunities for persons 60 and over to give one-on-one support services to children with special needs, and all this with no cost to the volunteer grandparent. Parks and Recreation Volunteer Programs provide volunteer opportunities for individuals and groups to assist with park plantings, trail maintenance, special events, youth athletics, recreation classes and the Adopt-a-Park program. Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) welcomes anyone aged 55 and older interested in giving their time and energy to meaningful volunteer activities. For more information, contact the Retired Senior Volunteer Program at 919-831-6295.
World Changers Program is a partnership between the City of Raleigh and the North American Mission Board. Adult and youth volunteers are provided by World Changers from all over the country. They provide free home repair services to qualified low-moderate income homeowners who live in redevelopment, conservation, and special census tract areas.
