How do I find out if there any active housing cases on the property?

Use the Public Access  online tool or contact the City of Raleigh Housing and Environmental Division at (919) 807-5110 to investigate potential active housing cases on the property. Staff will advise regarding steps to resolve pending issues.  Learn more >>

Does the parcel contain built structures?

Use the iMAPS property information frame; the parcel has no structures if:

  • “TYPE USE” is “Vacant” and
  • “BLDG VAL” is 0 [Building value as determined by the Wake County Tax Assessor]


If you want to verify the number of buildings on the property, use the Wake County Real Estate web application (http://msweb01.co.wake.nc.us/realestate/) to find the parcel. Use the ‘Buildings’ tab to review the buildings on the property.

Where do I find the current deed reference for the property?

Use the iMAPS property information frame, the deed information is:

  • Deed book
  • Deed page
  • Deed date


If you wish to view the deed, use the Wake County Books! web application: (http://rodweb01.co.wake.nc.us/books/genext/genextsearch.asp)

In the Book field enter the deed book.  For example, 11235 and then enter the page in the Page field.

Where do I find the map book reference that created the property?

On the iMAPS  property information frame, the map book information can usually be found in the “DESCRIPTION”.  If it is not in the description, it will require additional research methods not easily available online.

Are water and sewer lines available to the property?

The official determination will come from the City of Raleigh, Public Utilities Department.  Please call (919) 857-4540 to speak with someone who can answer your questions concerning the location of existing water and sewer lines.
