Property Use Designation
How do I determine or verify the current zoning designation?
Using the iMAPS web application, under ‘Select a View’ (below the map), scroll to ‘Raleigh Zoning’. The map will redraw and display Raleigh zoning designations for the property. See additional information about permitted uses under zoning.
Is the property in a Raleigh Historic Overlay District?
While in the ‘Raleigh Zoning’ view on iMAPS, click the “layers” tool on the left. The layers list will display on the right frame. Click the box next to “HOD” to turn on the ‘Historic Overlay District’ layer. The map will redraw and show the overlay district on top of the zoning, if there is an overlay on the property.
Is the property in a Raleigh Watershed Protection Overlay District?
While in the ‘Raleigh Zoning’ view on iMAPS, click the “layers” tool on the left. The layers list will display on the right frame. Click the box next to “WPOD” to turn on the ‘Watershed Protection Overlay District’ layer. The map will redraw and show the overlay district on top of the zoning, if there is an overlay on the property.
Is the property in the floodplain?
The official determination will come from the City of Raleigh, Public Works, Stormwater Division; however, you can use iMAPS to determine if you need to contact the office for additional verification. Using the iMAPS tool, under ‘Select a View’ (below the map), scroll to ‘Environmental Features’. The map will redraw. Click on the “layers” tool on the left. Uncheck the “topo” layers. Check the “Special Flood Hazard Areas” layer. The map will redraw with the special flood areas shown.
