Methods:

  • Professional visioning  
    • Local professional service and design resources such as the proposed Design Center, College of Design, land planning, landscape and architectural service firms will be enlisted to develop and help communicate a vision for the future.
  • Stakeholder guidance  
    • The Planning Commission Strategic Planning Committee and the Downtown Raleigh Alliance will partner to provide organizational guidance to the City Council Comprehensive Planning Committee for this effort.  The City Planning Department will administer the program.
  • Build public support  
    • A Livable Streets Partnership will be formed representing a broad cross section of Downtown Area Stakeholders with interest and responsibility within the downtown area.  Partnership members will be appointed by the City Council and recommended by the Planning Commission Strategic Planning Committee.
  • Integrate Marketing Techniques  
    • Utilization of creative marketing approaches can help to generate enthusiasm and public participation during the planning process.
