The City of Raleigh is currently under a “Hiring Freeze” due to budget concerns as a result of the current economic turndown; we do not foresee starting another application process or Recruit Training Academy in the near future, although this could change with improvement of the economy. How to Become a Raleigh Firefighter
1. Complete Fire Recruitment Packet
2. Attend Orientation Days (Optional).
3. Register for reading and physical agility testing.
4. Complete reading and physical agility testing.
5. Background and reference checks.
6. Oral interview.
7. Offer of employment.
Applications are only accepted for positions that are currently being recruited. The City of Raleigh generally recruits for Firefighter positions every year. More information about the application, testing, and interview process.
