Purchase of Recycled Yard Products:
Wood Chips come from wood pallets, usually made of oak. The chips make an attractive and decorative border for paths, in planting beds, or around trees and shrubbery.
Mulch and compost are made from leaves, grass clippings, shrubbery trimmings and tree limbs. Ground in the City's tub grinder, this mixture can be sold immediately as mulch or left to season and sold later as compost. Mulch is used around planting beds, trees and shrubs to reduce water evaporation, help control weeds and prevent soil erosion. Compost is a soil enhancer and natural fertilizer known as humus. The City seasons compost about six months before use or sale.
Recycled yard products are available for sale either by a bucket load of approximately 2 1/2 cubic yards (about a pickup load full, we load) or by the bag or can, up to 35 gallons in size (you fill your own bag or can).

* Subject to availability. Call the Yard Waste Center before visiting to find out what colors are available. Limit of two loads of colored wood chips per day.
Environmental statement of T.H. Glennon Company, Inc., manufacturer of wood chips colorant: "All components used in the manufacturer of Colorfast colorants are non-toxic to plants and animals. According to federal regulations codes OSHA* and ACGIH*, there are no environmental restrictions on this product. The iron oxide and titanium dioxide used in Colorfast Colorant is non-toxic."
Yard waste materials may also be brought to the Yard Waste Recycling facility for a tipping fee. Non-commercial vehicles pay a fee of $25.00 per ton, with a minimum fee of $6.25. Commercial vehicles pay a fee of $25.00 per ton, with a minimum fee of $12.50.
MasterCard, VISA, checks with proper ID, and cash are accepted.
