Cooke Street Phase II - Revitalization

Neighborhood Revitalization

Cooke Street Phase II is an infill redevelopment project of seventeen new single-family houses located adjacent to Cooke Street Phase I and the two blocks of urban greenway in the College Park/Idlewild Redevelopment Area. Building on the first phase’s success, this project is an important link between other City-sponsored developments in the area, including the rehabilitation of Gregory Oaks Apartments, the Jones Street duplexes, and Cooke Street Phase I infill housing. Both Habitat for Humanity and St. Augustine’s College Community Development Corporation are slated to buy and develop six lots each, and Evergreen Construction is developing five. All single-family houses and land uses must be approved by the Community Development Department and will comply with the Federal Energy Star requirements, which means that the homes are energy efficient. The designs of all seventeen houses will remain of high quality to ensure its being sensitive and harmonious with the character of the surrounding area.
