The Police Department is dedicated to working in partnership with the community to identify and address conditions that give rise to crime. And in recent years, the department has adopted strategies and practices that make its work more effective and more accountable.
The department employs an approach to policing that emphasizes the importance of maintaining a full range of enforcement priorities, including quality-of-life issues and violations that breed more serious crime. At the same time – under the District Policing System – officers are becoming more involved with, and more closely linked to, the citizens they serve and protect.
Through dedicated service by officers and civilians, district policing, innovative programs, effective technology use, and an enhanced relationship between citizens and the police, the department is reducing crime in Raleigh and making it an even better place to live, work, visit, and do business.
