Minimum Requirements:
Associate's degree or equivalent required. At least 2 years of relevant experience. Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent preferred. Knowledge of MS Office and ArcGIS software. Prior use of drafting software, (Micro station or AutoCAD preferred). Certification as an Engineering Intern is preferred. Valid NC Class "C" Driver's License.
Position Duties:
Reviews proposed new and existing commercial, multi-family and residential development plans for compliance with city code as it relates to transportation engineering. Provides expertise to others regarding transportation issues. Reviews commercial, multi-family and residential plans through preliminary, permitting and construction phases; reviews individual residential permits; creates fee-in-lieu estimates for public improvements associated with commercial, multi-family, and residential plan reviews. Assists engineers, architects, developers and property owners with compliance issues raised during development; reviews recorded maps to show existing transportation conditions and compliance with code. Attends public meetings to provide citizens with technical assistance; maintains communication with other Departments, City Council and City Commissions.communiction
