Raleigh Planning Commission
Composed of eleven members, eight appointed by the Raleigh City Council and three appointed by the Wake County Board of Commissioners. All members serve terms of two years and cannot serve more than three consecutive terms or six consecutive years.

The Planning Commission advises the City Council on future growth and development issues that affect the City. The Planning Commission reviews and makes recommendations to the Council on Comprehensive Plan items, redevelopment plans, changes in development regulations, requests to rezone property, and reviews preliminary site plans, group housing plans and subdivisions.
Meeting Dates:
The Commission normally meets on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month at 9:00 a.m. in the Council Chambers (Room 201) at the Raleigh Municipal Building, 222 West Hargett Street. If you are unable to attend, you can watch the meetings online via streaming video.
The Planning Commission Committee of the Whole meets on the first Tuesday of the month at 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. The Text Change Committee meets at 9:00 a.m. on the third Tuesday of the month. The Strategic Planning Committee meets at 11:00 a.m. on the third Tuesday of the month.
With the completion of the renovation of Conference Rooms 305 and 303 at the Municipal Building, the Committee of the Whole meetings will be held in Conference Room 303, the Text Change Committee and the Strategic Planning Committee meetings will be held in Conference Room 305.
