Full Assembly


Philosophy and Purpose

The Full Assembly’s purpose is to enhance the community’s competitive advantage, to create economic prosperity, and to improve the quality of life for Southeast Raleigh citizens. Specifically, the Assembly provides leadership for the following:

  • Designing a comprehensive strategy to improve economic well-being and quality of life of the Southeast Raleigh community.
  • Identifying critical issues and forces impacting sustainable economic development and growth in Southeast Raleigh.
  • Communicating a shared vision.
  • Expanding the resource base through networking and cultivating partnerships and alliances.
  • Creating a framework to deal with high priority issues more comprehensively while fostering integration, innovation and creativity.

Organizational System

  • The Assembly acts as Board of Directors. They set direction and authorize budget for work of the Issue Teams.
  • Another role of the Assembly is to advocate for SE Raleigh.
  • Members of The Assembly include geographical representatives of SE Raleigh Assembly area and experts from SE Raleigh and the broader community.
  • Diverse membership and systematic renewal is a goal of the Assembly. A nominating committee will work continuously to maintain a membership that includes people from the community institutions, business leaders, community associations, economic development entities, and Citizen Advisory Councils.
  • Members are encouraged to serve on issue teams. Those who do not choose to work on an Issue Team may be asked to serve in other leadership roles.
  • Co-Chairs appointed by the Budget and Economic Development Committee provide leadership to the Assembly. They serve a staggered two-year term.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies critical issues and forces impacting sustainable economic development and growth in Southeast Raleigh.
  • Approves and authorizes budgets for Issue Teams to conduct programs to meet goals identified.
  • Engages in annual review of programs and successes.
  • Advocates for Southeast Raleigh Assembly area with the city and long-term developers.
  • Cultivates partnerships to expand resources and development networks.
  • Promotes Assembly work and high priority issues in Southeast Raleigh.
  • Monitors involvement in short-term issues.
  • Sponsors and conducts recognition program to celebrate Southeast Raleigh successes.
