Substance Abuse Advisory Commission

On June 19, 1990, the City Council of the City of Raleigh created the Substance Abuse Advisory Commission (SAAC) for the continued availability of a group to advise it on ways and means of dealing with the City’s substance abuse problems. The City of Raleigh SAAC was developed to aid the City Council in solidifying the City’s commitment to a permanent and vigorous effort to eliminate its substance abuse problems.

The mission of the Substance Abuse Advisory Commission, as an advisory body to the Raleigh City Council, is to advocate for a healthy community by promoting best practice for the prevention, intervention, and treatment of alcohol, tobacco, and other drug abuse.
