Raleigh consistently offers the lowest cost for municipal services in the Triangle and of any major city in North Carolina. The following chart compares municipal property taxes and fees paid by a typical household. In order to deliver a high level of service at the lowest possible cost, the city continues to track indicators that measure its performance and cost effectiveness over time and against other local governments.

Customer Costs for Municipal Services

The chart below represents FY2008-09 annualized costs for city services. Annual property tax is based on single family residential unit value of $183,000. Annual water/sewer charges are based on 6,000 gallons usage per month.
