Mayor Meeker On The Move: December 2007

12/01/07	Will host the Mayor's Unity Day activities at the McKimmon Center at North Carolina State University. This free community event has expanded from last year's Mayor's Unity Breakfast to encompass day-long festivities. The event is free, but open only to the first 250 people to register. 12/03/07	Will attend the swearing-in ceremony of the 2007-09 Raleigh City Council at the Progress Energy Center. Mayor Meeker, who was successfully re-elected in October, is the City's 18th mayor and this is the 32nd council. In addition to Mayor Meeker, the new council will include: Russ Stephenson and Mary-Ann Baldwin (At-Large), Nancy McFarlane (District A), Rodger Koopman (District B), Mayor Pro Tem James West (District C), Thomas Crowder (District D) and Philip Isley (District E).
12/04/07	Will honor local sports radio station The Buzz for its 10th anniversary and record a holiday greeting for the station. Will pose for a photo with the new City Council. Will attend City Council meetings at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Use RTNSV to watch the meetings live and on-demand.
12/05/07	Will attend the Elected Officials Holiday Reception at The State Club. The event is held in conjunction with the Raleigh Chamber of Commerce.
12/07/07	Will "flip the switch" to light up Fayetteville Street with holiday lights at 5 p.m. Thousands of white lights will be placed on the trees lining the street. This is the second consecutive year for this holiday event. Will attend the graduation ceremony for the 2007 Virtual Business Incubator participants at the Raleigh Business & Technology Center.
12/11/07	Attending a meeting of the Budget and Economic Development Committee, if held.
12/12/07	Attending the Raleigh Citizens Advisory Council's 2007 Holiday Social at The Borden Building. More information about CACs
12/13/07	Will meet with Winston-Salem Mayor Allen Joines to discuss issues that each city is addressing. Mayor Joines is also the Chairman of the Metropolitan Coalition. He will use this meeting to help the Coalition with creating its own agenda. Will attend a concert by musician Lauren Kennedy at the Kennedy Theatre. Kennedy will perform Broadway favorites and music from her new CD, "Here and Now."
12/17/07	Will attend the Wake County Mayor's Association Christmas party at the Capital City Club.
12/19/07	Will attend the Downtown Development Luncheon at the Progress Energy Building. Will attend a meeting of the Transportation Advisory Committee.
