Coach's Corner

The City of Raleigh Parks and Recreation welcomes you to the Coach’s Corner; your guide to becoming a coach in our Youth Athletics Program.

The City of Raleigh is dedicated to insuring that every child has a fun and enjoyable experience with our youth programming.  Coaching is one of the most important positions we honor in the Parks and Recreation Department.  It is important to remember that coaching is a very big order and should be taken seriously.

Before you begin your coaching tenure with the city, it is required that coaches attend American Sport Education Program (ASEP) classes, which are offered monthly.  These classes will assist in guiding all aspiring coaches through the objectives of coaching and fundamental coaching techniques.

The materials present on this website will give a coach everything needed in order to become a coach for the city.  These materials include an orientation video, coaching forms, and sample practice plans.

For additional information on the rules and regulations of any youth sport offered please review any of the sport governing body links listed below that complies with your preferred sport.

If there are additional questions please feel free to contact the City of Raleigh Athletics Office at (919) 831-6836 or email athletics@ci.raleigh.nc.us. Also, note that all coaching positions for the City are on a volunteer basis, meaning there is no compensation.
