Fishing at Camp

Nature Detectives Camp

Location: Powell Drive Park  (1 mile from fairgrounds) Age: 6 to 8 years old

Your young camper will discover nature with mini-experiments, uncover critters in the pond, play games and make craft projects. Each week’s theme will be complemented with a guest speaker.

Camp size: 2 counselors, 16 campers

Nature Explorers Camp

Location: Umstead State Park  (I-40 entrance) Age: 8 to 10 years old

Campers will explore each week’s theme through forest treks, creek tours, experiments, and wildlife watching.  Each week will also include games, swimming, a guest speaker, field trips, and art.

Camp size: 2 counselors, 18 campers

Details

Structured activities 9am-4:30pm. Drop-off begins at 7:30am, pick-up until 6pm at no charge. Staff have backgrounds in science, are 20+ yrs old, pass a background check, certified in First Aid/CPR, and complete 12-25 training hrs.

  • Nature Detectives $140
  • Nature Explorers $125
  • Eco-Explorers $125
  • Non-resident fee $10

Registration

Camp Brochures will be available online and at Recreation Facilities in February.  The back of the brochure contains the registration forms. Mail-in or drop-off your registration early.
