Camp Exploration


Camp Exploration is designed for individuals with Intellectual Disabilities at Brentwood.  The program's focus is to provide leisure education skills that will enhance independent abilities.   The days will be filled with activities including sports, cooking, nature, crafts, aquatics, field trips, and more.  Some activities may require a small additional fee for that day. Differing levels of Camp Exploration are offered to meet the needs of campers. 

 

*New this year Camp Exploration will offer a session for older adults. Session will focus on similar life skills and is open for ages 25 and up.

 

Camp Exploration Level I is for individuals age 17-25, with moderate to low functioning abilities in the areas of cognitive and social skills.  For safety and consistency in programming, participants must be able to participate on a 1 staff to 3 participant ratio. Level II is offered in conjunction with Level I.

 

Camp Exploration Level II is for individuals age 17-25 with higher functioning abilities in the areas of cognitive and social skills. It essential that participants have all of the following skills: fundamental social skills for appropriately interacting with peers, ability to sit for a 30 minute intervals for education sessions, knowledge of different concepts related to life skills associated with this program and the ability to apply this knowledge in the appropriate setting  Participants must be able to participate on a 1 staff to 4 participant ratio.

 

Participants that have a 1 on 1 staff or need 1 on 1 support are welcome, but should register for Level 1.  The participant is responsible for providing 1:1 staff.  

 

Early Drop Off and Late Pick Up are offered for an additional $10 each, extending the hours by 30 minutes in the morning and afternoon.
