Boat Rentals
A variety of motorized and non-motorized rental boats are available for rent at Lake Johnson Park (weather and temperature conditions permitting).
You must be at least 16 years old to rent a boat.
Jon Boats
$4/hour without motor $20/day without motor
$10/hour with motor $50/day with motor
Pedal Boats
$6/half hour
$8/hour
Canoes/Kayaks
$5/hour
Sunfish Sailboats (must be at least 18 years or older)
$10/hour $20 refundable deposit required
Please Note: Individuals desiring to rent a Jon boat may bring their own electric motor (gas motors prohibited). Individuals desiring to rent a Sunfish Sailboat must first demonstrate proof of experience. Inexperienced users will not be permitted to rent a sailboat. Cold weather procedures will be in effect from November through March of each year. These procedures will involve the measuring of both air and water temperatures on a daily basis. If the measurement of both yields a combined total of less than 100 degrees, then boat rentals will not be allowed. If the combined temperatures of both total more than 100 degrees, then boat rentals will be allowed. Please call ahead to determine conditions for that day. These procedures are designed to offset the possibility of hypothermia in the event of capsizing.
Boat Launches
Lake Johnson allows non-trailer, electric motorized boats to be launched. Boats may be launched sunrise to sunset, 7 days a week, year-round, unless the park or lake is closed. Boats must be off the water 15 minutes prior to sunset. Boats may only be launched at the designated launching site.
