Convention and Conference Center

The City of Raleigh is building a new Convention Center! Set to open September 5-6, 2008, the new Raleigh Convention Center is currently under construction. The 500,000-square-foot facility will welcome groups of 50 to 5,000 with a sparkling new backdrop for trade shows, conventions and conferences. Scheduling is already under way for the Southeast's newest meeting destination! Visit www.raleighconvention.com for more details.

Highlights of the new center include the following:

  • 150,000 sq. ft. of exhibit space (divisible into 3 rooms)
  • 30,000 sq. ft. of meeting space (divisible into 19 rooms)
  • 32,000 sq. ft. ballroom (divisible into 3 rooms)

RWO3 To Open Convention Center

Raleigh Wide Open 3 (RWO3) will be the grand opening celebration for the Raleigh Convention Center.

The 36-hour downtown blast will begin Sept. 5 with a noon ribbon cutting. Then the fun really begins at 5 p.m. with RWO3 flooding Fayetteville Street. The brand-new convention center will be the site of the International Flavor Festival and preview of future center shows. Saturday, Sept. 6 is a 12-hour blast running from 11 a.m. to p.m.

To take a virtual tour of the convention center, visit www.raleighconvention.com/tour.

Also in development, a new four-star, 400-room Marriott hotel will open in tandem with the new center in the spring of 2008. The Marriott will be equipped with 15,000 square feet of banquet and meeting space.
